Perfectly Covered

October 1,2025 I was leaving my second job (at the time) and I was headed to pick my daughter up from work on the highway when I hit some unexpected traffic. I decided to get off at the next exit so I could pick up my daughter from her job sooner. I was in the furthest right lane next to the shoulder. I was talking to my brother Jonathan and he was sharing some exciting news with me when all of a sudden, I felt the impact of a car when he came into my lane without looking and hit my driver side door. The impact broke off my tire axle and pushed me into the median. It was quick and fast. I quickly told Jonathan that I was just hit and I was certain my car was totaled and inoperable. I was frantic and confused. Jonathan offered to go pick up Kadiri for me, in which I was thankful. The driver actually stopped and I did feel a little relieved. He came over and said, “I didn’t see you. I didn’t see you.” In which I replied, “I know.” He was talking to me from my driver side window and immediately I realize something was off. His speech wasn’t sure and his eyes seemed a little glazed. I asked him to come to the passenger side so he wouldn’t be next to the traffic that was rushing past us. He came over and asked if I was OK. I told him I was startled however I didn’t feel like anything was severely harmed or broken besides my car. He quickly went to his phone and began looking at his insurance. He told me he didn’t have his driver's license on him. Moments later, another driver who had seen the accident stopped and gave me his phone number and his name. I was so grateful he stopped. I called the police and gave a statement and then I called a tow company. The police officers never came to the scene of the accident, which was extremely strange. I’ve never experienced anything like that. When I called 911, they said that it was an unusually busy night and so it might be a while before anyone was able to come out and see about the accident. At two in the morning, I was still sitting on the highway waiting for the tow company who never came. I Ubered home and waited for 8 o’clock in the morning. I laid down however, I didn’t sleep. I was in shock. The next day I called the tow company and Ubered back to my car on the highway and waited for it to be towed to my house.

This was my birthday weekend. This year, I felt the Lord showing me to just do a staycation to rest and reflect and to enjoy some time getting a massage, a facial, a pedicure and to enjoy some nice restaurants and to rest as much as possible. This was all planned before the accident. For the last five years, I had been going to different mountain towns for solo birthday trips. However, this year I felt led to stay close to home little did I know why. As the days went on, I started feeling a lot of pain in my shoulder, neck and back when I went to the doctors, they said it was because of whiplash. Overtime, I began getting better, however, I still had racing thoughts and a racing heart, whenever I would drive. When people made sudden movements in traffic I would get startled, I would feel tightness in my chest and pins and needles on my face and forehead. I began having nightmares and it was difficult to sleep. I began sharing these things with different friends and family who encouraged me to pray to talk to a counselor and most of all to give it time. One of the friends I spoke to was Kristen and she said, “I wonder if there’s an underlining belief that you have because you’ve been in several accidents.” As I sat there and pondered it I considered often when I drive I don’t believe I’m safe. And as I consider that I thought about the last accident, I was in where the driver may not have been completely drunk but he was tipsy for sure, the witness and I could smell the liquor on him. The driver even said he needed to blow in his car because after a while it would shut down. And I thought about how the he hit my car and cracked the wheel off of the axle at a certain speed and the impact simply pushed me almost gently into the median without flipping my car and without causing me immense bodily injury. I only lost my car. It’s a if I could feel God and his angels and encamping around about me and insulating me in my vehicle and pushing us out of harms way. A few days later, I was talking to my family about this when I felt God was showing me to meditate on the passage of scripture in Psalm 91 and to leave my Bible open on my dresser before I went to sleep. From that time on, by the grace of God, I stopped having nightmares. Not I’ve been meditating on, feeling safe and covered when I’m driving, however, sometimes when drivers are aggressive or inconsiderate, I still have reactions in my body that I’m working through.

I just wanna thank God for keeping me for always being there for me and for protecting me from all hurt harm and danger seen and unseen. And in less than a week, God blessed me with a new vehicle. He led me to reach out to a cousin who looked at used vehicles with me and helped me make the right choice. God also led me to pray to be in his will and have the vehicle he had for me and not just my preference. What amazes even more was I also felt led to reach out to my two best friends and share with them what happened. My friend Natelie created a spreadsheet for me, had an hour-long conversation with me about the vehicles I was looking into, and she even came with me to look at the vehicles the second day until I choose one. We even had lunch on my birthday, as we waited for all the paperwork to be done and the car to be detailed. I had confidence because God led me to contact her and she coached me up, lol. It was the best used car buying experience a girl could ever ask for. And so,

with all of that, I wanna thank God that I turned 38 on October 7 and that no weapon formed against me will prosper. God is so intentional and strategic with how he loves, cares for, protects and keeps me in the palm of his hand, in every circumstance, in every situation, he is there, and I am truly grateful With Gratitude,

Stephanie
